BOSQUE

Inside my child-like brain, I bear a fascination towards nature like no other.

The lullaby of the crickets, the cracking of twigs on the ground or the cawing of macaws that so distinctively place you in a river, the beach or a tropical forest.

That moment of being in an unknown space where each step is carefully accounted for as the idea that something potentially dangerous such as a snake, poisonous mushroom or even a tick makes each movement a definitive one.

A great teacher of humility natures is.

In this space, every creature is to be acknowledged, the beauty of an iridescent beetle, the camouflage of a walking stick bug, or the coloring of a leopard orchid. How little does it take to be in awe, and how much do those “little things” bring us closer to ourselves.

Without my hand injury that has lasted  a little over a year now, this project wouldn’t have come to life. The abundant patience to look within and around; the restrictions of pressure and strength, the solitude and frustration… I cant imagine being an ant and having to walk miles with something that weighs 10X my weight… but much like a little bee flying for hours to bring that bit of honey, this copious time with limited movement has guided me into mindfulness and hence to create a microscopic world where each creature has been imagined, drawn and sculpted, resulting in these, my forest jewels.

BOSQUE, an enchanted forest installation, is an immersive experience where sculpture and functional design meet. Composed of hand sculpted miniature ceramics, this enveloping installation is inspired by the flora and fauna that nurtures the biodiversity in jungles and forests. Imaginary plants, mushrooms and insects will come to life through the artists’ sculptures targeting the senses.
